The original model for this Zöller & Born Limität 2006 was sculpted around the year 1830. The lion's head, the central focus of the steins, is the most eminent of ornamentations borrowed from the animal kingdom. It symbolizes strength, courage and virtue. Towering above the tendrils and artistic fleur-de-lis decor and beautifully sculpted in finely detailed raised relief, it bestows a dramatic clarity to the stein, which is all the more enhanced by the contrasting cobalt-blue and grey colors, so characteristic of the stoneware crafted in Westerwald. The lid of genuine pewter in an antique patina is handsomely embossed with an ornate filigree relief design to further augment the stein's unique collectibles appeal.
